BANGKOK, Thailand – The First Army Area has provided an update on operations following the signing of the joint statement at the Thai–Cambodian General Border Committee (GBC) meeting on December 27, stating that all actions have been carried out in accordance with the agreement. The Burapha Task Force is conducting the operations to stabilize three border areas in Sa Kaeo province.

The areas involved are Ban Khlong Phaeng in Ta Phraya district and Ban Nong Chan and Ban Nong Ya Kaew in Khok Sung district. The army said these locations have been prioritized to restore safety and normal conditions for residents.

Mine clearance operations have been completed through coordination among Border Patrol Police, humanitarian mine action units, and military explosive ordnance teams. Safe areas have been established, allowing residents of four villages to return home. Engineering units have also removed structures found to encroach on Thai sovereign territory.

Container barriers have been installed along the border in Ban Nong Chan and Ban Nong Ya Kaew with support from local communities and partner organizations. Preparations are underway to transport and install similar barriers in Ban Khlong Phaeng, while the construction and reinforcement of defensive positions in all three areas have been completed.

The First Army Area said provincial authorities, police, ranger units, local agencies, village security teams, and border residents supported the operations. Government agencies have also begun repairs to damaged homes, with all actions carried out within Thailand’s territory and in accordance with the joint statement to ensure safety and stability along the border.
