They were from 11 provinces in the lower North such as Phitsanulok, Phichit, Phetchabun, Uttaradit , Phrae and Nan. The awards are to honor the voluntary non-remunerated blood donors for their contribution to save lives and improve health conditions of people

The Thai Red Cross Society started its blood transfusion service in 1952. The objective is to collect safe and sufficient blood supplies for patients all over the country. The present target of blood recruitment is 1.9 million units annually: 600,000 units in Bangkok and 1.35 million units in provincial areas. Although the number of blood donors is on the rise, demands for blood also increase 8-10% annually, prompting all Red Cross units to campaign for blood donations every three months.
