BANGKOK, 4 August 2014 –The Election Commission (EC) Chairman Supachai Somcharoen has chaired a meeting to prepare a nomination process for the 77 provincial ECs. All provincial ECs and officials have to provide information on the legal entities to nominate qualified candidates and also make public proclamations. The EC Secretary-General Puchong Nutrawongit said that it is expected to spend not more than 10 million baht on the nomination process. On August 6th, the EC will invite all relevant authorities, for example, the Department of Corrections, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), to prepare for an inspection of the qualifications of the nominees. Meanwhile, the shortlist is comprised of 935 names; 50 for each of the 11 areas of national reform and five from each of 77 provinces nationwide.
