BANGKOK, 5 October 2015 – Domestic energy consumption will rise as the Thai economy has expanded, said Energy Minister Narongchai Akraseranee.

Given speculation that domestic power uses will increase by 4.3 per cent, dependence on oil and natural gas to produce electricity will have to be reduced while consumption of other types of fuel will be proportionately increased, he said.

The Ministry of Energy aims at continually providing energy for the production of electricity for all sectors throughout the country and for that reason such natural resources as coal might be an alternative energy, he said.
