Deputy Interior Minister pushes 3Rs policy and environmental action in Kanchanaburi

Deputy Minister Sakda inspects Kaeng Sian waste site and meets provincial officials to boost sustainable waste management, community involvement, and environmental protection.

KANCHANABURI, Thailand – Deputy Minister of Interior Sakda Vicheansil visited Kanchanaburi province on October 6 to inspect progress on the Ministry of Interior’s priority missions. He was welcomed by the Mueang Kanchanaburi District Chief, heads of provincial government agencies, and representatives from local administrative organizations.

During the inspection tour, Sakda and his delegation visited the Kanchanaburi Municipality waste disposal site in Kaeng Sian subdistrict to assess waste management operations and review measures addressing solid waste and environmental issues that have affected nearby communities. Officials briefed him on ongoing efforts and strategies to achieve sanitary and sustainable waste disposal.

The Deputy Minister of Interior urged local authorities to accelerate the implementation of the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3Rs)” policy to promote waste reduction, sorting, and reuse at the source. He also encouraged greater community involvement in waste separation to build long-term environmental awareness and reduce public health risks.


Sakda later presided over a meeting at Kanchanaburi Provincial Hall, attended by Governor Athisarn Intara and senior officials from related agencies. The meeting reviewed key issues, including solid waste management, water and drought prevention, illegal land use control, migrant labor management, and narcotics suppression.

Sakda, during the gathering, called for closer coordination between local and provincial agencies under the “Interior Cares for the Environment” policy to improve residents’ quality of life and promote sustainable provincial development in line with national goals. (NNT)
