Defense Minister visits Sa Kaeo to review border security and support displaced residents

Defense Minister Gen Nattaphon Narkphanit meets evacuees at a temporary shelter in Sa Kaeo province on December 16, delivering medical supplies, essential goods, and words of encouragement amid ongoing border security concerns.

SA KAEO, Thailand – Minister of Defense Gen Nattaphon Narkphanit visited Sa Kaeo province on the evening of December 16 to inspect the Burapha Task Force, assess border security conditions, and encourage commanders and personnel operating in the area. He was accompanied by Permanent Secretary for Defense Gen Tharapong Malakam.

The delegation also visited a temporary shelter at the Sa Kaeo Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, where medicines and medical supplies were delivered to medical teams caring for evacuees. Gen Nattaphon met with bedridden patients at the shelter and reviewed the provision of ongoing medical care.



Later, the minister met with residents displaced by border unrest, offering reassurance and listening to their concerns. Authorities distributed essential consumer goods to help ease daily hardships, while children at the shelter were given ice cream to raise morale.

Defense Ministry Spokesperson Rear Admiral Surasant Kongsiri said the ministry continues to safeguard national sovereignty while ensuring assistance for affected civilians. He added that authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant agencies to maintain stability, order, and public safety in the area. (NNT)
