At 3am Pichat Pongjaroen was driving his pick up with his girlfriend, he had been drinking heavily and he nearly hit the group of ten men on their motorbikes on the same lane.

The bikers who turned out to be a group of civil volunteers were outraged and sped after him and eventually forced him to pull over.

Pichat was pulled out of the truck and attacked by the gang, apparently a police officer did witness this but for some reason did not intervene and they only stopped the relentless attack after Pichat’s girlfriend begged them to.

The victim suffered bruises and open wounds on his face. He told police that he was returning from a party at the Bali Hai pier south Pattaya. He admitted that he had consumed excessive amounts of alcohol and said he didn’t mean to hurt anyone, he thought the gang were just some teenagers out for revenge and didn’t realize that they were civil volunteers as they were not wearing uniforms.

He was charged with dangerous driving whilst under the influence of alcohol, amazingly the civil volunteers who had taken the law into their own hands were free to go.
