City hands over new buses for schoolchildren

Pattaya city mayor Ittiphol Khunplome handed over 10 school buses to local schools to help accommodate kids from lower income families in transporting them to and from their schools.

 

The mayor said the city is now responsible for providing education and better standard of living for over 11,000 students studying at 11 different schools.

He said most of the kids are facing difficulties in paying for their transport and other daily expenses.

The number of the students has risen about 10% each year. He said city hall had recently signed a contract to use the 10 buses for 5 years without collecting even a single baht from their parents.

They will also be useful to take kids on field trips.

The buses are operated with CNG energy, 10 drivers and 10 attendants; they are all air-conditioned and are 12 meters long with 2 exits and 1 emergency door.

They are equipped with CCTVs to monitor inside corridors and doorways, safety kits, and radio communicators. They will be on the road on Wednesday May 18 on and will start picking up kids at 7am and take them back home in the evening.
