CHONBURI – Deputy Prime Minister Gen Tanasak Patimapragorn says the new “Active Beach” policies in Chonburi Province will serve as a model for other provinces in maintaining a sustainable tourism industry.

Gen Tanasak along with the Minister of Tourism and Sports Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, delivered a policy address to the committee meeting on tourism development in the eastern region, while inspecting Pattaya beach to observe the management of jet ski and assistance services for tourists. The officials also observed the progress of the new bike path along the beach under the Sports Tourism Destination policy.

Gen Tanasak remarked that tourism in the area is on the rise with increased revenue being gained from the increase in the number of tourists. However, most tourists are still concentrated in Chonburi Province, so the government aims to further develop tourism in the area by creating new tourist attractions and accelerating development of major projects.

He added that the successful cooperation of Chonburi and the eastern provinces as a tourism cluster, serves as a model for tourism development in other clusters in the country. The government will support each cluster’s uniqueness and culture as well as facilitate the ease of transportation between provinces.
