CHONBURI, 28 August 2015 – A large number of Chinese Thais in Chonburi Province yesterday were shopping for this year’s Chinese Spirit Festival taking place today.

Perishable items in Ang Sila Old Market or Srimuang Market are priced within the normal range; whole chickens are being sold at 60 – 65 baht, while a kilogram of pork is priced around 140-145 baht. However prices of vegetables are slightly increased with Chinese kale at 15-20 baht a kilogram, while Chinese cabbages and regular cabbages are around 15-16 baht per kilogram.

According to vendors at the market, sales of flowers and flower garlands are affected by the economic slowdown this year. Meanwhile, local consumers told reporters that the prices of essential items for the festival had increased, which affected their purchasing decisions.
