CHIANGMAI, 2 June 2014 – Sub-Lieutenant Grand Chamberlain Kitti Khanthamit presided at the Miyawaki ecosystem reforestation project in honor of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in Maerim district in Chiang Mai province. Many students, college students, civil servants and local people joined together to plant trees in a 5 rai area to restore the forest. This project is arranged by the Office of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The idea of creating a forest by closely planting together different types of trees that suit the natural climate and vegetation of the land, is called the Miyawaki Method.

This method is suitable for reforesting a small or medium size piece of land by planting 50 cm high trees that are 50 cm apart. Department of Forestry has been successful at adopting the Miyawagi method in its last 3 projects. Therefore, it has been once again adopted in Chiang Mai and will be publicized to the public to reforest different local areas this way.
