PHNOM PENH – A Cambodian news agency reported on June 24 that a large number of tourists, including Thai nationals, have been stranded at the Poipet border checkpoint, unable to cross into Thailand following the Thai government’s decision to shut all border crossings with Cambodia.
On June 23, the Royal Thai Army — including the First and Second Army Regions and the Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defense Command — announced the full closure of all border checkpoints with Cambodia. The closure prohibits all vehicles and individuals from crossing the border, with exceptions made only for medical emergencies and students.
As of now, the Cambodian government has yet to issue any official response or countermeasures regarding the situation.
