BANGKOK, 10 April 2013 The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has organized activities to celebrate the upcoming National Senior Citizens Day.

On the occasion of the National Senior Citizens Day on April 13, Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukumphand Paribatra yesterday presided over the opening ceremony of the activity, held under the theme of “Wisdom of the seniors ushers Thailand into ASEAN”. The activity is organized to recognize the value of senior citizens and to propagate their profound wisdom.

According to the Bangkok governor, the number of seniors in the capital is increasing; therefore, the BMA will provide optimal health promotion and welfare that suit the seniors’ lifestyle.

At the same time, those who are over 60 years old will be allowed to travel free of charge on the Metropolitan Rapid Transit (MRT) and the Bangkok Mass Transit (BTS) systems during April 13-15 simply by showing their identification cards at the station.
