BMA donates 2.1m baht relief fund to Nepal

BANGKOK, 3 June 2015 – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has handed over a 2.1 million baht donation to those affected from the earthquake in Nepal.

The Governor of Bangkok Sukhumbhand Paribatra, along with the BMA executives, handed over the 2,108,981.41 baht donation as part of the Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund to the Nepali Ambassador to Thailand Khaga Nath Abhikari at the Bangkok City Hall.

The Bangkok Governor has said that the BMA Permanent-Secretary initiated the donation account in wake of the earthquake incident in Nepal on 25 April 2015 as the main account for the BMA employees along with the general public to donate.

He has said that although the earthquake disaster has already subsided, but restoration operations and the mental rehabilitation of the victims will require time. Therefore, Bangkok is willing to provide assistance and this will help strengthen the relationship between Thailand and Nepal more in the future.
