The 45-day light, color, and sound festival from November 1 to December 15 aims to attract 1.5 million visitors, boost tourism revenue, and showcase the Chao Phraya River as a major cultural destination.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced preparations for Vijit Chao Phraya 2025, a 45-day festival of light, color, and sound set to take place along both banks of Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River from November 1 to December 15. The announcement followed a meeting on September 26 with public and private sector partners to coordinate operations and planning.

Agencies represented included the Royal Thai Navy, the Department of Rural Roads, the Metropolitan Police Bureau, the Marine Department, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Tourist Police Bureau, Siriraj Hospital, the Thai Boats Association, and the Chao Phraya River Trade Association, along with riverside hotels and commercial centers such as ICONSIAM and ASIATIQUE The Riverfront. Organizers stressed that safety, river traffic management, and venue control would be handled comprehensively to ensure smooth operations throughout the festival.

TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said the agency is targeting at least 1.5 million visitors and revenue of no less than 500 million baht for the Thai economy. She added that tourism operators, hotels, and river cruise businesses are expected to see strong benefits from the surge in activity.

To achieve these goals, TAT outlined four main strategies: integrated promotion with partner agencies, hotel and river cruise packages to encourage longer stays, creative campaigns such as photo and video contests to generate fresh content, and enhanced safety measures to instill confidence in visitors.

Organizers portrayed Vijit Chao Phraya 2025 as more than a seasonal celebration, presenting it as a major cultural event set to elevate the Chao Phraya River into a global tourist attraction. (NNT)
