Young delegates from across Southeast Asia urged stronger action on education, sustainability, and child protection, presenting concrete policy recommendations to help shape the future ASEAN Community.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand hosted a regional forum where ASEAN youth delegates presented their voices and aspirations under the theme “Children Who Shape Tomorrow: ASEAN Community Vision 2045.”

On 17 September 2025, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MoSD), through the Department of Children and Youth, organized an event to showcase presentations from ASEAN youth delegates under this theme.

ASEAN youth presented three key recommendations to ASEAN mechanisms and Member States as follows:

Education and Innovation – Establish the ASEAN Framework for Education Development (A.F.E.D.) to accommodate diverse learning styles, allocate continuous funding for innovation and education, and conduct quarterly reviews to ensure inclusive access to education.

Environmental Sustainability – Promote awareness-raising projects and allocate funding for environmental education programs while encouraging public participation through forums and community engagement.

Child Rights and Protection – Set clear objectives and timelines, establish a comprehensive child-registration system with temporary ID cards for marginalized children, ensure access to education and healthcare, and strengthen cross-border cooperation and digital safety measures.

The activity, held from 15–18 September 2025 in Bangkok, brought together youth representatives aged 12–18 from eight ASEAN Member States and Timor-Leste. It aimed to empower youth to shape the region’s future in line with ASEAN Vision 2045, which emphasizes resilience, innovation, dynamism, and people-centered development.

These policy recommendations reaffirm ASEAN’s commitment to empowering the voices of children and youth as key drivers of the region’s future. (PRD)
