Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to peace amid rising border tensions with Cambodia, saying he will stay in close contact with security agencies during his overseas trip and ensure the armed forces act responsibly while protecting national sovereignty and public safety.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has affirmed he will remain in constant contact with security agencies throughout his overseas trip as tensions along the Thai–Cambodian border continue to develop. The Prime Minister said Thailand has no intention of provoking conflict but will not allow any violation of its sovereignty or any risk to civilians or military personnel. He added that the armed forces are operating in accordance with their established procedures, with full government support.

Anutin said evacuation centers and financial aid systems are already prepared should residents need to be relocated. He also noted the strong public response, with donations from across the country contributing to relief efforts, and said the government will continue using this cooperative model to support affected communities.

Addressing concerns about the potential for confrontation, Anutin said the country must remain fully prepared even as it seeks peace. He reaffirmed that the military has had full authority over border defense decisions since the start of his administration and that troops are ready to safeguard national sovereignty and public safety.

When asked about Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet’s claim that Thai soldiers fired on Cambodian civilians, Anutin said he had learned about the allegation and stated that Thailand will handle the matter through its own approach. (NNT)
