NAKHON SAWAN, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul visited flood-affected residents in Ban Kaeng Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Sawan District, Nakhon Sawan Province, on October 3, to provide support and reassure affected households.
The Prime Minister and his delegation visited the temporary evacuation center at Wat Ban Kaeng, where they were welcomed by Nakhon Sawan Governor Chumpich Decharat and local officials. The center currently accommodates residents from Ban Kaeng and Wat Sai subdistricts.
During the visit, the delegation met with elderly people and other flood-affected residents and distributed 400 relief packages to affected households and vulnerable groups. The Prime Minister said the government has mobilized agencies to ensure evacuation centers have adequate bedding, food, drinking water, medicines, and security. The National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command meets each morning to coordinate water management and provide timely, accurate public information.
The Prime Minister assured that households affected by disasters before October 1, 2026, will receive assistance through the government’s existing disaster relief mechanisms. For disasters occurring from October 1 onward, the government’s Disaster Insurance for the Public program provides coverage for approximately 30 million households nationwide for floods, windstorms, and earthquakes.
The policy provides up to 100,000 baht in property damage coverage per household based on official assessments, or a flat 100,000-baht payout if a residence remains surrounded by water and uninhabitable for more than seven consecutive days. In the event of a fatality, the insurance provides 2 million baht in compensation per person. (NNT)
