The Prime Minister personally flew donated organs from Loei to hospitals, continuing his long-standing volunteer role with the Thai Red Cross to help save lives.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul carried out his first “Wings of the Heart” mission since taking office, personally piloting a flight to Loei province today (Sept 30) to transport donated organs for patients in need of transplants. He arrived at Loei Airport shortly after noon, where he was received by Governor Chaipoj Jaruenpong and provincial officials before beginning the mission.

The “Wings of the Heart” program, run by the Thai Red Cross Society, has been part of Anutin’s personal service since 2014, when he first volunteered as a pilot while serving as Minister of Public Health. This mission continued that role alongside his current responsibilities as Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

The donations came from a 19-year-old man from Chiang Khan district who was declared brain-dead after an accident. His organs included a heart, liver, two kidneys, two corneas, and a pancreas. He is the 20th organ donor from Loei province and the 148th nationwide, with the donations expected to save at least seven lives.

At 2:00 p.m., Anutin departed Loei Airport by private jet, transporting the organs to ensure they reached hospitals where patients were waiting. The swift transfer was essential to maintaining the viability of the organs for transplant surgeries. (NNT)
