UTHAI THANI,(NNT) – Several activities have been organized to celebrate the 62nd birthday anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
The Office of Non-formal and Informal Education in Uthai Thani province unveiled the first library for market vendors, as instructed by Princess Sirindhorn when Her Royal Highness paid a personal visit to the Tessaban 2 fresh market in the province’s capital district many years ago.
According to the office, the Princess had conversed with a vendor who was also a book enthusiast during her visit. Her Royal Highness then made a suggestion to the Education Minister to construct a mobile library for those in the area.
The Ministry later assigned the project to the office, in order to instill the reading habit in market goers and vendors at the Tessaban 2 fresh market.
The library offers daily newspapers, magazines, collections of short stories, and novels, to name a few.
Meanwhile, Trat Province today held a Buddhist ordination ceremony for 49 young monks, paying tribute to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and to honor Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn on the occasion of her 62nd birthday anniversary.
The ceremony encourages children to educate themselves about the teachings of the lord Buddha and the late King and implement them in their daily life. The event promotes religious affairs, social development, and the 12 national core values.
