3.8-magnitude earthquake slightly shakes Phuket early this morning

PHUKET, 25 March 2015 – A 3.8-magnitude earthquake occurred at 5.32 a.m. on Wednesday morning off the east coast of Phuket. The epicenter occurred at a depth of 23 kilometers from the seabed, about 13 kilometers off the costline of Phuket province, according to the Meteorological Department. 

Director-General Wanchai Sakudomchai cited people onshore in both Phuket and Phang-nga provinces as saying they felt the shake for several seconds but still live normal life and carry out everyday activities.

After the quake, the Governor of Phuket has coordinated with related authorities in the province, especially the disaster warning networks and the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, to keep watching for the aftermaths. There have been no casualties or damage reported so far.
