SI SA KET, May 22 – Thai authorities seized almost 100 Siamese rosewood logs in this northeastern province this month, estimated to total more than Bt10 million in value.

Local authorities said the wood was confiscated along Thailand’s border with Cambodia. Seized items also included a pickup truck and woodcutting equipment. Three suspects were apprehended.

Meanwhile, four drug suspects were arrested along with over 1,500 meth pills and firearms with bullets.

According to the authorities, there were signs of deforestation and wood smuggling along the border area as ordered by investors wanting to sell the Siamese rosewood in neighbouring countries.
