Dave Ferris had a good run of golf last month and it is good to see his name back on the leaderboard.  Dave’s 36 point card got him to 4th place.  One shot better was the 3-handicapper Jack Grindvold of News Steaks & Grill fame.  39 points on your card will take you up to second place, which is where Fred Birch ended up nicely.  Top of the heap was smilin’ Barry Murnin who shot a fantastic 40 points out there today.  Barry has been working on getting his handicap lower and has been dropping strokes and improving greatly.  Nice work there Barry, you’re doing something right!

Wednesday, Dec. 23, Pattavia (white tees) – Monthly Medal

1st Mark Wood (9) net 70

2nd Robbie Taylor (13) net 70

3rd Fred Birch (24) net 73

4th Mark Litherland (28) net 73

No doubt about it, Pattavia is one of the toughest golf courses in the area.  Greens were wickedly fast (much faster than Amata Spring) and if you were unlucky enough to land above the hole, you had no chance.  The December Medal contest was ahead of us today and it was to be one of the hardest.  Even Kenny Aihara admitted to having a (gulp) 5-putt!

The course was the best I have seen it, and the disease on the 18th green is gone now.  Fairways were cross-cut and took the appearance of a far more expensive track.  This is a gem of a golf course and thanks must go to Chang Breweries for turning this course around.  We are absolutely in love with this place!

Mark Litherland and his lovely wife Siobhan joined us from Blighty on this outing.  Mark hung tough and ended up surprised to be on the podium with a net 73.  Siobhan had to be content with riding along as she is nursing a cycling injury.  Fred Birch also had a great round on this difficult course to beat Mark on count back.

To shoot a net 70 out there today was quite an achievement, but that is exactly what Robbie Taylor and Mark Wood accomplished.  Mark just edged out Robbie on count back to win our December Medal here today.  Wood also joined that exclusive “3–star” Club with today’s win so his new Antigua TGC golf shirt will show his stars.

Friday, Dec. 25, Khao Kheow (white tees) – Stableford

1st Mark Wood (9) 36pts

2nd Ken Aihara (5) 34pts

T3rd Courtney Bailey (8) 33pts

T3rd Alan Rothwell (5) 33pts

It was a Merry Christmas morning as we loaded up 3 vans to head out to Khao Kheow.  The course was in amazing condition and it was perfect weather, so what better way to spend a Christmas Day?

Our buddy Courtney Bailey is back in town and the educator taught the lads a lesson with his 33 points to tie with Alan Rothwell.  Kenny Aihara was back in form and took second place on the podium with a 34 on the card.

It was Woody’s week and today his 36 was a winner for the second time on 3 days.  Mark is in his Purple Patch so when that happens, get out and play as much as you can!
