PSC Golf from the Growling Swan

Monday, June 27, Treasure Hill – Stableford

Not a big turnout but 16 golfers set out from the Swan to take on the challenge of Treasure Hill. I have to take my hat off to the management and staff at this course, the pricing is top rate and this course is in good nick!

The weather looked good and excitement was in the air. We as a golfing group look forward to playing this course. We played from the front tees and this day should have produced better scores than we did.

With only 1 division and some ordinary scores Bill Steinmann got the nod for top spot in front of newcomer Mike Johns via the count back system.  Third two strokes behind was our very own judge, the right honorable (Ecca the London Bus driver) Eric Black, with another newcomer taking fourth place on the podium, the lovely Runa Curungay.

1st Bill Steinmann (12) 34pts

2nd Mike Johns (16) 34pts

3rd Eric Black (14) 32pts

4th Runa Curungay (25) 31pts

Near Pins: #2 Runa Curungay, #6 Don Richardson, #13 Lorraine Percy, #17 Runa Curungay.

Long Putts: #9 Mike Gosden and #18 Allan Ray.

Thursday. June 30, Mt. Shadow – Monthly Mug

A big field of 36 golfers ventured out to Mountain Shadow and teed off in overcast conditions. Luckily the rain stayed away, but a tricky wind and difficult pin placements proved to be a challenge.

The big field meant that there were three divisions and A Grade was won by Paul Hack with a fine net 74. He was closely followed by Kevin Waycott, who after a slow start to his round played well for a net 75. A fine effort seeing he has played very little golf the past few months. Mashi Kaneta came in third with a net 76 by way of a count back from Stu Rifkin.

B Grade was taken out by Jayson Schembri with a net 70, set up by an excellent front nine. 3 shots back in second place was Mike Johns, then a further 3 shots back in 3rd was The Viper, Mark Stapleton who edged out Alex Field in a count back.

C Grade saw a popular win for Dick Braimbridge in his first game back with The Growling Swan in a long time, with a net 72, which was just enough to beat Patrick Poussier who had a net 73. Andrew Allan armed with his new driver filled third spot with a net 75, and coming in fourth was Wan Braimbridge with a net 77.

So given the above, the Monthly Mug was duly awarded to Jayson Schembri, a first time winner, who was immediately congratulated by his Uncle Lindsay. I have to say Jayson was a very popular winner and given the state he left in, he celebrated long and hard.  Well done Jayson!
