Monday, March 19, The Emerald – Stableford

Only six groups of four out today and the Welsh boy David Phillips returned the best score of the day, winning division 2 with 38 points.  Rick Assi finished second on a 21/17 back-nine count-back, beating Leo Adam after they both scored 36 points.  Andres van De Laan was fourth with 35 and Johnny Walsh took fifth on 33.

There were three 34-pointers fighting for the top position in division 1 and a count-back saw Ian Speirs declared the winner ahead of Paul Butler in second and Steve Godfrey third.  Jerry McCarthy was fourth with 32 points, beating Chris Slota and Per Forsberg on an 18/15/14 back-nine count-back.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Marc Brunner, Steve Godfrey, Dave Horne and Steve Godfrey, and (Div 2) Frank Grainger and David Phillips.

Wednesday, March 21, Eastern Star – Stableford

We have two divisions out at Eastern Star with the equal cut at 14-19 and 20 +.  John Walsh returned the best score of the day, winning division 2 with 36 points.  It was a tough test of golf here with some very slick greens and there were three 30-pointers fighting for the next three positions.  A 18/17/14 back-nine count-back placed John Kelly in second, David Phillips third and Theo Bahrt fourth.

Steve Godfrey with only 32points won divaision 1, Mikael Andersson was second one point behind and Paul Butler took third with 30 points.  Shane Tutton filled fourth place on the podium, beating the two Irish boys Frank Kelly and Jerry McCarthy after they all came in with 29 points.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Mikael Andersson and Steve Godfrey, and (Div 2) Tony Thorne and Shane Tutton.

Friday, March 23, Khao Kheow – Stableford

We were booked in for the B and C nines today but after nine holes we were back at the clubhouse and all groups were moved to the A course as the C course first tee was choc a bloc.  It was a tough test of golf here today and this was reflected in the scores.

The best score of the day in both divisions was 33 points from Paul Young who won division 1 ahead of Dave Horne in second place on 32.  Steve Godfrey was third, beating Neil Gamble 18/16 after they both scored 31 points each.

Andres Van De Laan was the winner in division 2, with Rick Assi second five points behind, John Walsh in third with 27 and Paul Sturgeon fourth with 26.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Bob Comartin (2) and Dave Horne, and (Div 2) John Kelly and Willy Van Heetvelde.

Frank Grainger birdied A4 to pick up three rollovers in the second division ‘2’s pot.
