IPGC Golf from The Tara Court Golf Group

Sunday, August 30, Green Valley – Stableford

Back at Green Valley today for our usual Sunday game and despite the lack of rain this year the course is still in excellent condition.

Today one of our group, Walter Panachi, shot a gross level par to score thirty eight points off his two handicap but it wasn’t enough to win as his friend, playing partner and fellow countryman Norman Cheetham beat him by one point to win the day.

At the other end of the field Alec Hoare had thirty five points but that also wasn’t enough to get in the prizes as Donal McGuigan beat him on a count back for fifth place.  Rick Evan, who was playing his first game with us, came fourth with thirty six and Frank McGowan took third, also with thirty six but winning the count back.

The ‘2’s pot was shared by Walter Panachi and Frank McGowan with one each.

1st Norman Cheetham (16) 39pts

2nd Walter Panachi (2) 38pts

3rd Frank McGowan (18) 36pts

4th Rick Evan (6) 36pts

5th Donal McGuigan (18) 35pts

Tuesday, Sept. 1, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

We had just a small group out again today for what turned out to be a very enjoyable and quick round of golf.  As usual the course very quiet and we had it virtually to ourselves, especially for the first nine holes.  It always seems to get busy here in the afternoons but by that time we were well on our way so it was not a problem.

Joe McArdle was the winner today with thirty three points and he pushed John Fenwick on the count back into second place.  Ted Morris took the final podium spot with thirty points and there were no ‘2’s.

1st Joe McArdle (12) 33pts

2nd John Fenwick (21) 33pts

3rd Ted Morris (12) 30pts

Thursday, Sept. 3, Burapha – Stableford

In contrast to Tuesday, we had a much larger group out today for the always popular Burapha Golf Course.  We were going off the C and D courses and obviously everyone was feeling confident as they all decided to play off the long blue tees.  Actually, as it turned out, their confidence might have been misplaced as only one of the group managed to play to his handicap and most of the other scores were not so good.

Walter Panachi, playing off his 2-handicap, went around in two over to score thirty six points and win the day.  Walter has been playing very well this trip and this was his last game before heading back home to Australia.  He also had the only ‘2’s of the day making it a very profitable day for him before going home.

In second place with thirty five points was Kevin Blake, Kevin just beating his friend Russell Gilroy into third on a count back.  Jon Batty came fourth with thirty two and we then had three players on thirty one points, with Lyle Blaw winning the count back to come fifth and Frank McGowan taking sixth.  The unfortunate Mark Lang also had thirty one but lost out on the count back for a prize.

1st Walter Panachi (2) 36pts

2nd Kevin Blake (9) 35pts

3rd Russell Gilroy (15) 35pts

4th Jon Batty (7) 32pts

5th Lyle Blaw (10) 31pts

6th Frank McGowan (18) 31pts
