PSC Golf from the Phantom Golf Society

Monday, Dec. 21, Plutaluang N & W – Stableford

Combining with Colin’s Golf Bar we had 6 groups ready to visit Plutaluang and on a beautiful Monday morning we departed the Phantom Bar just before 9.00am and headed south.  The traffic was pretty good for a Monday and going a different way, this time past Silver Lake, we arrived at the course in the very good time of 38 minutes.

The golf course was fairly busy and we were allocated the North & West nines, which was our preference anyway and our first group got away 10 minutes earlier than our scheduled 10.30am tee time.  With no-one immediately in front of us the pace was quite good and the course was in fine shape with the greens in very good condition.

Matt Noonan & Paul West.Matt Noonan & Paul West.

As mentioned earlier, the weather was fantastic for golf as it was not too hot and there was very little wind.  After the first nine holes it was unusual to find that all our four had 19 points each and the expectations were great with most of us playing steady golf on the back nine but nothing exceptional.  It was a very good, leisurely round with excellent company and we finished in the good time of just over four hours.

We had 2 flights, A Flight for handicaps of 0 to 18 and B Flight for golfers with handicaps of 19 and over.  We also had nearest the pins on 2 par threes and longest first putts on the ninth & eighteenth greens.

The A Flight was well won by Matt Noonan with 41 points and big Phil Davies came second with 38, which was 1 point better than your writer, Peter “Blacky” Blackburn who finished in third place.

In the B Flight it was Paul West who was declared the winner after scoring a fine 40 points, with Colin “Donkey” Davis in second spot with 37.  There were 3 golfers with 36 points so a count back was required to determine third place and that went to Marcus Earp (17 point back nine, 10 points on the last 6 holes & 6 points on the last 3 holes), with Tony Cook (17 point back nine, 10 points on the last 6 holes & 5 points on the last 3 holes) and Stu Mann (17 point back nine, 10 points on the last 6 holes & 5 points on the last 3 holes) just missing out.
