PSC Golf from Tropical Bert’s

Tuesday, August 16, Pleasant Valley – Stableford

What a miserable morning it was as we congregated a Tropical Bert’s. Indeed the question on all lips was, would we be able to play, as the weather forecast was not good at all.  However as is usual in these circumstances, after talking to the course, we made the brave decision to go there and see how it played out.

The drive up there on Route 7 was wet as rain came down, and as we approached Laem Chabang the road was blocked on both sides.  As we drew closer we saw a truck through the center of the road and facing us.  Of course traffic in both directions was doing their usual.  Gawking.  However, we still reached a wet Pleasant Valley on time and noticed some work had been carried out on the parking area and we could park in reasonable safety.

Booking in, the concern was whether we could play, but by this time the weather seemed to be improving.  However, the course being sopping wet we had lift, clean and place everywhere.  The bunkers were also in poor condition so we made it a full house.  Naturally the carts were not allowed on the course so on the path it was and off we went.

The course was wet then the rain slowed and the sun came out, and it became really humid, uncomfortably so.  So with a wet course we did the best we did we could, and ploughed on.  As the day went on the humidity continued and the day became very tiring.  However, the day was still enjoyable.

Then back and into a fine shower.  The new clubhouse provides ample changing facilities and the restaurant overlooks the last holes of both nines.  The food is also quite good and well priced.  Then into cars and back to Bert’s and the road being clear by now we were soon back.

Back at Bert’s the players tucked into Bert’s Golfers Special, which on this day was fish and chips.  Well done and thanks Bert and Pu.  Then onto the presentation.  With only a few players we had one flight and the winner, by a street, was Tom Cotton with 43 points.  In second, also a good score, was Mike Gaussa with 40 points and in third shooting his handicap was Alan Sullivan.  We then partook of Bert’s ‘Happy Hour’ until 1900 hrs.
