Wednesday, Dec. 26, Green Valley – Stableford

Talk about lightening fast greens – that was what we got today at Green Valley where you had to hit the ball on the green with just the shadow of the putter, they were fast but true.

A small field of 2 groups set off on time and it was a 4 hour round with no waiting or hold ups, just a pleasant walk.  There was only one birdie ‘2 ‘and that went to Gentry Harrington with a fine shot on the 16th.  He hit it to about 6 inches – great shot mate!  Gentry also won all the caddy skins for his caddy.

Bob Pearce and John Locke. Bob Pearce and John Locke.

The winner today was Martin Hayes with 36 points ahead of runner up Mark Tavesham-Hamm on 34, then in third was George Barrie with 29 points (I might add he got 20 of those points on the back nine with two 4 for 4s.)

All in all it was a great day out, not too hot and just right for golf.

Friday, Dec. 28, Crystal Bay – Stableford

It’s a long drive to Crystal Bay – or it was for a few of the lad who took the long way and had Mark T/Hamm following them – he must have thought they were going to Bangpakong!  However, the boys did finally manage to get there almost on time with Kiwi Bill navigating from the back seat, well done mate!

The course was in great condition but the club rooms don’t seem to match up very well at all.  It was a slow round today as we followed a large group who were all walking; I suppose it has to happen on occasions at this time of the year.  Only 2 group’s today as a few lads had to do a visa run to Soi Dao.

There were a few good scores coming in, especially from the winner John Locke with 37points off a 17 h/cap. In second place was Wes Rado playing off 15 with 33 points on a count back over Brian Maddox.

There was only one ‘2’ today and that went to the old master Bob Pearce.
