PATTAYA, Thailand – The MyBar Golf Society enjoyed two competitive outings this week, with strong performances at Eastern Star Golf Course and Pattana Golf Club, as players battled the heat and testing course conditions.
The Tuesday, April 14 fixture at Eastern Star saw a smaller field of two groups, but competition remained lively. The course was presented in fine condition, offering just enough challenge to keep players focused, while a welcome breeze provided some relief from the heat.
Only one golfer managed to better his handicap, with Willem Lasonder bouncing back impressively after picking up the spoon the previous week. His steady round of 39 Stableford points secured a well-earned victory. Tony Oakes followed in second place with 35 points. Allan Cassin, unable to find his rhythm on the day, received the spoon. Near pin honours were shared by Neil Harvey, Dave Smith, and Willem Lasonder.
Action continued on Thursday, April 16, with nine players taking on the demanding layout at Pattana Golf Club. Although not a regular stop, the course proved a popular choice in low season, thanks to excellent playing conditions, including partly overcast skies, a cooling breeze, and a course in top shape.
Pattana lived up to its reputation as a challenging test, with only two players managing to beat their handicaps. Mark Bromwich delivered a consistent performance to claim top honours with 38 Stableford points, while Sam Jeffery secured second place with 36 points. Dave Smith endured a difficult round and took home the spoon.
Near pin prizes were claimed by Robert Charbonneau, Tony Oakes, and Ricardo Batt, rounding off another enjoyable and competitive week for the MyBar Golf Society.
