First, the new shirts are in!  6 colours and all sizes so come on down and get supplied for the hot summer ahead!  We have also stocked up on our T-shirts that are great for the driving range.

Nine groups took to the course today to try and win an Antigua TGC golf shirt as 1st prize for the Monthly Medal.  This is becoming a very popular event and it brings out the best of the best on every occasion.

Starting with the B Flight winners, there were a trio of 70’s posted so the back nine became crucial.  As it turned out, there was only a stroke between the top three places.  Jeff Cordeiro continued his fine form and took the gold with a 41 on the back.  Jeff won at Wangjuntra the previous week and is on a hot streak, so watch out.

He was followed in by Gabriel (webmaster) Enright on 42 in second.  Winging his way back to Sydney by now, Gabriel is taking back a new set of teeth with him.  Gabe built our website so have a look at his work there at golfclubpattaya.com.  Fellow Australian Phil Smedley rounded out that treble 70 with a 43 on the back for a very well played round at the lovely Green Valley.

A Flight was led by Mr. Jay Burns, our Monthly Medal winner for April.  You will always find Jay with either a golf club or cigar in his hand, and is an accomplished ‘slasher’, playing off a 4 handicap.  He’s here for 3 more weeks so get used to seeing his name.

Vancouverite Stevie Snelgrove was once again the bridesmaid and only a shot behind off his 6 handicap.  Gareth Gill rounded out the top three single digit handicappers off his 8 for a net 70.  That’s some great golf!

Wednesday, May 2, Treasure Hill (Yellow tees) – Stableford

1st Brian Prudden (19) 37pts

2nd Ian Brimble (7) 36pts

3rd Bob McPhail (13) 36pts

This is a difficult golf course and one forgets that from the yellow tees it is still 6,377 yards long and some of that uphill as well.  It is a tight track will little margin for error, so scoring well here is a blessing.

The course was in great shape once again.  We have not played Treasure Hill in several weeks since the incident reported here with the verticut greens slashed too deep.  Now, all is good and we noticed several more course improvements through the round making this one of the best value for money tracks in Pattaya.

Diego Wells took the helm herding cats with clubs and he had a good following of 5 groups on the day.  It was a hot one out there and some fared better than others.  If you are a beer drinker on the course, remember to get electrolytes in you between bottles to prevent dehydration.  It will help your game immensely by being able to stay focused.

Brian Prudden is a tough competitor, even at 77 years of age.  So tough in fact he won the day with his 37 points circled at the top of the scorecard as younger men half his age struggled.  Ian Brimble also had a great day to turn in a 36 off his 7 handicap and the recently arrived Ozzy Bob McPhail showed his talents with a 36 as well, just losing out on count back by a shot.  Well played guys!

Friday, May 4,The Emerald (White tees) – Stableford

1st John Warren (17) 37pts

2nd Ken Aihara (5) 36pts

3rd Alain Pelsherbe (13) 35pts

Finally, we returned to The Emerald as we had heard it was back in good nick.  We had a good day out on this most interesting Nick Faldo track and will go back soon.

‘Little’ John Warren was the man of the match this time out.  The Seasider supporter put it all together and beat the field with a 37 point day, which is about the right score on this difficult golf course, he must have been wearing tangerine!  Good luck to the Pool on Wednesday mate.

Ken Aihara was back in the game with 36 off his 5 handicap for second and our visiting Frenchman Alain Pelsherbe brought home 35 for third place.  Alain was lucky enough to have played Pebble Beach last month and we were all drooling over his photos on his ipad earlier in the day.  Tres Bon!

We are going on a One Night in Bangkok Road trip on the 22nd and 23rd and playing Lam Lu Ka and Lotus Valley and staying at the ibis Nana, all for 4,000 baht.  Drop by or email us if it strikes your fancy.

It was goodbye to Brian and Marlene, Gabe, Jimmy B. and Stevie Weller today and hello to Mutzie & Gerry Cohen.
