Sunday, September 7, Green Valley – Stableford

A Flight

1st Simon Kendal (11) 37 pts

2nd Jim Brackett (5) 37 pts

3rd Eddy Beilby (14) 36 pts

B Flight

1st Thomas Nyborg (19) 39 pts

2nd Peter Terry (19) 39 pts

3rd Colin Davis (16) 37 pts

Near Pins: No 5 Ian Jones, No 8 Peter Terry, No 12 Dave Bill Peach, No 16 JP Maffray.

You cannot fault Peter Terry’s 39 point effort but unfortunately it’s not as favorably distributed as Thomas Nyberg’s, but it was good for a share of the bragging rights, and the silver in B Flight on the day. Thomas started the week as he fished last week with a top place finish. Tomas and Peter were one clear of the Colin ‘the Donkey’ Davis.

Thomas Nyborg.Thomas Nyborg.

It needed a count back in A Flight to sort out the top two podium spots, as Simon Kendal and Big Jim Brackett were locked on 37 points, but Simon was the better when he compared his back nine score to that of Jim. Eddy ‘the Eagle’ Beilby swopped in to fill the flight with a steady even par round.

Leo Hosting, William Peach and Bob Fagan split the 2’s pot.

Tuesday, September 9, Laem Chabang B+C – Stableford

A Flight

1st Ron Dickie (6) 38 pts

2nd Freddy Starbeck (13) 38 pts

3rd Dave Stockman (6) 36 pts

B Flight

1st Alan White (18) 41 pts

2nd Christian Boysen (18) 37 pts

3rd Colin Davis (16) 35 pts

C Flight

1st Thomas Nyborg (19) 34 pts

2nd Jorn Finnerup (21) 32 pts

3rd Bill Broschart (21) 27 pts

A large crowd made their way to Jack’s Masterpiece Laem Chabang to receive the usual warm welcome from the staff. After a quick check in, it was off to the first tee for a prompt start on a sunny day with a slight breeze making for comfortable conditions.

It was very comfortable for Alan White as he amassed a staggering 41 points for the top spot in B Flight and the match honours. The inform Christian Boysen took the silver with 37 points leaving the Donkey to tidy up the flight with 35 points.

The A Flight laurels went to Ron Dickie but Ron needed the aid of a favourable count back decision over Freddy, ‘the very quiet one’ Starbeck, both with a rock solid 38 points. Dave stockman rounded out the flight with an even par round.

It was of no surprise to see Thomas Nyborg standing a top of the C Flight podium as his 34 points made it three wins on the bounce. Thomas was two clear of Irishman Jorn Finnerup. The flight bronze went to a count back between Bill Broschart and Barry Oats, with the scales of justice falling in Bill’s favour.

Ron Dickie and Alistair Gall split a very healthy 2’s pot.

Wednesday, September 10, Burapha A+B – Stableford

A Flight

1st Alan White (18) 42 pts

2nd Manos Volikaisk (18) 39 pts

3rd Aiden Murray 9180 38 pts

B Flight

1st Ray Fowlis (34) 36 pts

2nd Peter Terry (20) 36 pts

3rd Thomas Nyborg (19) 36 pts

Alan White, who won Tuesday’s game, stepped it up a notch to take a three point victory in A Flight with 42 sparkling points. Alan Volikaisk was the silver award recipient, as Aiden Murray used the ubiquitous count back to fill the bronze spot from Paul Smith, as nothing previously sorted out their joint 39 points.

The entire C Flight podium was separated only by count back. When the divots had settled it was Ray ‘hud-cap’ Fowlis who emerged with the gold. The consistent Peter Terry grabbed the silver. Guess who? Closed the flight out – that’s right, three time winner this week Thomas Nyborg.

The happiest golfer on the day was Rune Askdal as he was the sole heir to the 2’s pot.

Friday, September 12, Mountain Shadow – Stableford

A Flight

1st Mike Jefferys (17) 37pts

2nd Murray Aiden (18) 36 pts

3rd Thomas Nyborg (19) 36 pts

Thomas Nyborg continued his weekly climb to the top of the podium as Sundays first was followed by Tuesday’s first which was followed by Wednesdays’ third and culminated in today’s third place. “How’s that for a week of golf.” But the winner on the day and the only player to better his handicap on the day at the always tough Mountain Shadow was Mike ‘the welsh Dragon’ Jefferys with a sound 37 points. Mike was one clear of Aiden Murray who does not need to be shown where the pay window is and you know who. Aiden had the better of the count back.

No 2’s were recorded.
