Wednesday, Oct. 25, Pattaya C.C. – Stableford

Back to reality after last week’s trip to Chiang Mai and we had to cancel Monday and Tuesday’s rounds due to horrendous weather conditions here in Pattaya.

On Wednesday we managed to get out at Pattaya Country Club and played off the white tees with two divisions and the equal cut coming at 21+.

The Durham boy John Hughes won division 1 with 38 points while Chiang Mai winner Keith Woolley took second on 34.  A 19/17/17 back-nine count-back saw Bob Poole beat Colin James and Pete Sumner after they all came in with 33 points.

In division 2, Leo Adam beat Alan Bissell 20/18 on another back-nine count-back after both finished locked on 38 points overall and Curtis Hessler placed third with 37.

In the near pins on all four par-threes, there was only one winner in division 1 in the form of Pete Sumner, and in division 2 Alan Bissell, Peter Davies and Frank Grainger got on the score-sheet.

Keith Woolley in division 1 birdied the 12th for the only ‘2’ of the day.

Friday, Oct. 27, Eastern Star – Stableford

Today we had a cloudless round but with a strong breeze and some very tough pin placements to contend with, and this was reflected in the scores.

A lowly 32 was the best score of the day, with Colin James posting that to win division 1 and there were four 31-pointers following on, with Frank Kelly, Keith Woolley, Jerry Sweetnam and Mikael Andersson being separated on count-back and finishing in that order.

Alan Bissell topped division 2 with 31 points, with the Fulham boy Rod Howett in second on 29 and Tony Thorne third with 28.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Mikael Andersson, Dennis Scougall (2) and Jerry Sweetnam, and (Div 2) Alan Bissell, Rod Howett and Tom Novak.

Jerry Sweetnam birdied the signature 13th and in division 2 and Colin James the 17th to take their share of the ‘2’s loot.
