Sunday, April 22, Green Valley – Stableford

As the greens at Green Valley had just been cored and sanded we asked the 12 players which course they wanted to play today.  The majority still wanted to play Green Valley and while there were a few bumps and jumps on the greens it was the same for everyone.  The fairways are still in excellent condition and the greens should bounce back quickly.

The greens did not worry the winner Craig Hitchens (H/cap 15) with 28 putts for the round and 39 points overall.  In second came Donal McGuigan (20) with 35 points, third went to Declan Kelly (12) with 34 and fourth to Pat Carty (23) on 33.

Tuesday, April 24, Pattavia – Stableford

Twelve players arrived at Pattavia today and were greeted with a special price of 1150 baht all up as the golf course was having greens maintenance done.  More courses should be doing the same thing this time of year.

The greens had been cored and sanded about a week ago, so while a bit bumpy they still played Ok.  The fairways and bunkers were in great shape however.

We got off to a good start with the pace very quick until we caught up on the 9th with a group of 6 players and a few more groups of 6 in front of them and had a 3 hour back nine.  Management did apologize but said it was a tournament.

Today’s winner was Craig Robson (H/cap 9) with 37 points and he also had the only 2 for the day, making for a good payday.  Second place went to Michael Williams (12) on 36 points, Craig Hitchens (15) was third with 34 and the final place was occupied by Shaun Merriman (12) on 33.

Thursday, April 26, Burapha – Stableford

We were back at Burapha today for our first of many games here this year.  Like before we found the course in magnificent condition and it is great to be back.

Today we played the A and B nines and we were lucky as our last group were on the last hole when the rain came and although they got a bit wet as least we all got finished.

We had some very good scores today with Declan Kelly (12) coming out the winner with an excellent 39 points.  Ted Morris (20) took the second place with 38 and Daryl Burkett (13) got third with 36.  We had two players with 33 points and here Russell Gilroy (17) won the count back to take fourth place and Bernie Stafford (18) had to settle for fifth.
