PSC Golf Bunker Boys at The Ranch

Monday, Dec. 21, Pleasant Valley (Blue Tees) – Stableford

The nineteen players that made the trip up the motorway were pleasantly surprised to find Pleasant Valley in excellent condition: fairways close to perfect, bunkers with plenty of the soft white stuff, greens running fast and true.  There was a comment that “this is the nicest course I’ve played in Pattaya”.  Well, it was a new guy, but what the heck.  For those of you who have dubbed it ‘Unpleasant Valley’, you may want to think about taking another look.

Les Hall – Mr. Second or Third place – finally, finally made it into the winner’s circle.  In fact, posting forty stableford points and taking first place puts him in contention, along with three or four other players, for Golfer of the Month.

Wednesday, Dec. 23, Plutaluang N & W – Stableford

Some would argue these two nines are among the top tier of challenging courses we play in this area.  Considering the normal conditions: fairways not clearly delineated with a lot of hardpan, rough as rough as it gets, bunkers made of clay, and greens as slow as a turtle’s gait, posting a good score here doesn’t come easily.  This was born out again today as only one player managed to play to his handicap.

In addition to the challenging layout, tough conditions, and beautiful scenery, Navy is a great place to experience the camaraderie that occurs between two men sharing a cart whilst chasing down that little white ball.  Some do / some don’t like sharing a cart.  It would be nice if it were an option at every track we play.

1st Geoff Parker (14) 36pts

2nd Mike Brett (20) 33pts

3rd Jimmy Carr (19) 32pts

Near Pins: Tony Scambler (2), Ken Davidson, Mike Johns

Friday, December 25, Silky Oak – Rainbow Stableford

Playing on four hours sleep in a Singha haze, Barry proceeded to put it to the few brave souls that showed up at The Ranch on Christmas morning to play the beautiful Silky Oak G.C.  Posting forty stableford points was quite commendable and puts him a leg up in the race for Golfer of the Month.

The real treat of the day was the spread put on by our gracious host – Buff at The Ranch.  Yummy!  A big thanks to The Ranch.

1st Barry Murnin (17) 40pts

2nd Mike Johns (15) 39pts

3rd Geoff Parker (14) 38pts

Near Pins: Barry Murnin (2), Mike Johns (2), Steve Durey
