Monday, June 18, Greenwood – Stableford

Another empty car park and a totally deserted course so we were able to tee-off 25 minutes ahead of schedule. We played the A and C nines today with the front nine in perfect condition but on the C course all the greens had been sanded.

Some unbelievably low scores came in with 32 points being the highest from both divisions. Gareth Piccinin, playing off 7, won division 1 with that score ahead on Paul Young in second on 30 points and Bruce Gardner third with 28.

William Chang topped division 2 with 28 points, Alan Bissell was one point behind in second and John Doyle was third with 26.

There were only two near pin winners, both on A2, as Neil Gamble in division 1 and John Doyle in division 2 took the prizes.

No ‘2’s in division 1 but in division 2 John Doyle birdied A2.

Wednesday, June 20, The Emerald – Stableford

There was a lot more improvement to the course from our visit here three weeks ago, especially the greens and fringes.

The cut in the two divisions came at 10-18 and 19+ and John Carlin returned the best score of the day, winning division 2 with 36 points. John Doyle was second on 30 and an amazing 24 points was enough to give third place to Leo Adam, beating Bruce Gardner on a 14/12 back-nine count-back.

Ray Daws won division 1 with 33 points, Neil Gamble was second on 33 and there were three 30-pointers fighting for third position where a 17/16/14 count-back saw Paul Young edge out Les Smith and Marc Brunner respectively.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Marc Brunner, Les Smith (2) and Paul Young, and (Div 2) John Carlin.

Marc Brunner was a happy chappy after a birdie on the 7th and in division 2 there was a rollover to Mountain Shadow next Monday.

Friday, June 22, Eastern Star – Stableford

There were six groups out today with the equal cut in the two divisions at 7- 18.8 and 19.2 + and with 35 points Colin Aspinall won division 1. The yoga instructor’s boyfriend Paul Young was second on 33 points (Tu was a happy lady at the presentation) and in third place Frank Kelly beat Mikael Andersson on a 16/9 count-back after they both came in with 31 points.

In division 2, Leo Adam was the winner with 34 points, William Chang came second on 33, Bruce Gardner took third on 31 and in fourth place was Mick Werner with 30 points.

The fairways here are now in great condition and the greens today the slickest we have played in many weeks.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Mikael Andersson (2) and Paul Young, and (Div 2) Bruce Gardner, Ian Plummer, Tony Thorne and Mick Werner.

Michael Andersson birdied the 6th in division 1 and there was another rollover in division 2.
