Rod Howett.
Rod Howett.

There was only one division out today and we played the A and B courses off the white tees.  In his last game with us before returning to the UK, Frank Grainger beat Paul Young on an 18/17 count-back to take the top podium position after they both came in with 34 points each.  Tom Novak was third with 33, Brian Keating fourth on 31 and Dave Horne in fifth place with 30.

Nobody managed to record a ‘2’ or claim any of the near pin prizes today.

Friday, Sept. 22, Eastern Star – Stableford

Our game at Silky Oak on Wednesday was washed out due to torrential rain that lashed the Ban Chang area and here at Eastern Star 2 days later you could see the storm debris on the fairways.  There were some heavy clouds surrounding the course and a few spots of rain as the fist group finished.

It was a tough test out there today with 33 points the highest score of the day from Rod Howett to win division 2 (19+).  Jurgean Heinzius was second on 31 and Willy Van Heetvelde took third with 28 points.

Paul Butler was the winner In division 1 (13-17) with 31 points, Mikael Andersson took second one point behind and Colin Aspinall placed third with 29.

Near pins were won by (Div 1) Brian Keating and Les Smith, and (Div 2) Leo Adam, Tony Thorne and Willy Van Heetvelde.
