Monday, Dec. 2, Plutaluang – Stableford
There was a field of 37 out today with the cut in the three divisions coming at 4-15, 16-21 and 21+ and yet again we were allocated the East and South courses.
The telephone box boy returned the best score of the day, Dennis Scougal winning division 2 with a fine 38 points. Howard Stanley came in second three points behind and Walter Weber was third on 31.
Lindsay Phillips topped division 1 with 35 points and Horst Starchl took second on 34, with the London taxi boy Mike Chatt placing third with 33 points.
Andy Oz claimed pole position in division 3 with 34 points ahead of Cliff Elliott in second, one point behind, and Joe Kubon was smiling as he finished third with just 30 points.
There were no ‘2’s in division 1 but Andy Oz birdied the 7th on the South to take the rollover pot in division 2.
Near pins went to Frank Kelly, Pete Sumner (2), Cliff Elliott, Ray Gott, Chris Slota and Walter Weber.
Friday, Dec. 6, Eastern Star – Stableford
With the numbers up once again, the cut was almost identical to Monday with the field split at 7-13, 14-19 and 20+.
Playing off 12 now after a few months on the podium, our new monthly prize of the Lone Ranger mask was won by Billy Fitzgerald, who topped division 1 with 41 points. Chris Voller came in a distant second and eight points behind as he beat Bob Mulholand and Wilf Latham on count back.
Miss Pink, a.k.a. Miss Nut, playing off the white tees now off 23, won division 3 with an even par 36 points ahead of Walter Weber in second on 35 and Chris Reed third with 32.
Darryl Blair, who lives on this course, won division 2 with 35 points while second place went to Swiss man Volker Suhr on 34 and in third place was Don Head with 33.
Bob Mulholand birdied the 3rd after an almost hole in one to record the only ‘2’ of the day while near pins were claimed by Don Head, Jerry McCarthy, Bob Mulholand, Keith Woolley, Magne Gunnarson, Chris Reed and Walter Weber.
