Dutch expats and the women of city hall took top honors at the 13th Pattaya Beach Football Cup.

City Councilman Choduek Chotekamjorn opened the Feb. 9-18 tourney at the Jomtien Beach sports area.  The 12-team competition was split between men and women with the men’s bracket composed of squads broken down by nationality and the women’s bracket comprised of private companies and government agencies.

Dutch nationals won first place in the male competition with players representing Norway placing second.  The Thai team took third.

The Russian team won the “fair play” award and prizes were also given to the top scorer and goalkeeper of the tournament, both of whom were foreigners.

In the women’s bracket, Pattaya City Hall took the trophy, followed by teams from Retox and Wang Tong.

Now in its 13th year, the beach football tourney is one of the most popular activities for Thais and foreigners to get together and show good sportsmanship.
