Despite low season being on top of us we still had seven groups out here today at Green Valley and two flights with the cut for the A flight coming out at fifteen.  We had very heavy rain just before our first tee time and it looked very bad but after a delay of around forty minutes we finally got teeing off on what turned out to be a very pleasant day for golf and also the course dried out very quickly.

We had good scoring in both flights with the best score of the day coming in the A flight where Declan Kelly was the winner with an excellent thirty nine points, ahead of the ever-consistent Andy Featherstone who came second with thirty seven.

In the B flight Pat Carty was the clear winner with an excellent thirty eight points while Ken Hole came second with thirty four.

We had three ‘2’s today, coming from Craig Hitchens, Rocky Hudson and Gerry Hughes.

Tuesday, March 20, Treasure Hill – Stableford

We had 22 players sign up today to try and beat the tough course that is Treasure Hill.  It was very hot and humid today and a slower than usual round of about 4hr.20min.  Again the course got the better of the players and easily won the day.

The B flight winner and only one to play to handicap was Kevyn Wright (H’cap 15) with 36 points, two ahead of Donal McGuigan (20) in second on 34 while Joe Peters (22) took third on a count-back over Francis McGuigan(16), both with 32 points.

The A division scoring was not as good and top spot went to Craig Hitchens (14) with 33 points.  Second and third places were decided on count-back with Jon Batty (6) getting the nod over Nick Caulfield (6), both on 30 points.

To add to their winnings, Kevyn Wright & Nick Caulfield had the only ‘2’s of the day .

Thursday, March 22, Khao Kheow – Stableford

1st Pat Carty (24) 41pts

2nd Russell Gilroy (17) 40pts

3rd Andy Featherstone (4) 39pts

4th Nick Caulfield (6) 39pts

5th Donal McGuigan (20) 38pts

A smaller group out here at Khao Kheow today so we only had one flight.  The two nines which we played were in excellent condition and as the course was almost deserted we had it to ourselves and got round very quickly.

Some very good scores today on this difficult course and after winning on Sunday Pat Carty repeated it again today and won with an excellent forty one points, which will mean he is about to see a sharp reduction in his handicap.  Russell Gilroy thought he had done enough to win with his forty points but today it was only good enough for the second place.  We had two players with thirty nine points and here Andy Featherstone won the count back to take the third place.

We had five ‘2’s today from Bob Maloney, John Kelly, Nick Caulfield, Brian Angus and Kevyn Wright.
