Sunday, Nov. 4, Green Valley – Stableford

It was hard to believe how much Green Valley had improved and dried out so well in the space of just one week and although the greens were still a bit slow, the repairs which they have done are coming on very well.

The cut for the A flight came in at eighteen and here the winner was Russell Gilroy (H/cap 17) with thirty-seven points and although Yasuo Suzuki (14) also had thirty-seven he lost out on the countback. Michael Williams (13) took the third place on the podium with thirty-six.

In the B flight we had the best score of the day and this came from Terry Mangan (22) who won with thirty-eight points. Joe Peters (25) got the second place with thirty-four and Gerry Hughes (21) came third with thirty-two.

We had two ‘2’s today, from Gerry Hughes and Michael Williams.

Tuesday, Nov. 6, Pattavia – Stableford

A small group out today and on arrival at the course it was nearly deserted. Only one group in front of us and we were away 20 minutes early.

The course was in great condition with well-maintained fairways and rough. The bunkers need a bit of work as there are too many small stones in most. The greens were slower than normal, which probably was the reason for great scores and if you did not shoot better than handicap today you were not in the race.

In first place with a great 41 points was Daryl Burkett (14), two ahead of Craig Hitchens (13) in second with 39. Completing the podium in third was Russell Gilroy (17) with 37 points and he added to his winnings by having the only ‘2’ for the day.

Thursday, Nov. 8, Bangpra – Stableford

This is another course which we hadn’t played in a long time but it will be on our monthly schedule now for the high season. A small group out today which was made smaller by the fact that someone got lost on the way out but for those who did manage to make it they found the course to be in very good condition and a great test of golf.

Darryl Burkett (14) is certainly on form at the moment and today he had his second win in a row with an excellent thirty-seven points, which is a great score on what is a very long course and with very tricky greens. Terry Mangan (22) is also playing well at the moment and today he came second with thirty-five points while Peter Henshaw (29) took the third and last place for today with thirty-four.
