We had a great turnout for the regular Sunday bash at Green Valley, just the one flight but with six places up for grabs.   The course here just gets better and the weather remained dry.

Mickey ‘nine holes’ Beresford, whose accomplishments have been lauded in this column numerous times, made another marked move on his handicap with a scintillating 42 points for the top podium spot and the day’s honours.   His effort overshadowed the fine 39 points of Peter Terry and third placed Mark Watkins.

Is there a story in the bottom half of the flight?  Only that Martin Zimmerman continued to prevail with a count-back victory (with a near pin I might add) over the ever-popular Aiden Murray and Paul ‘the thunder from down under’ Hack, all with 37 points.

Four groups left the TPL for a return visit to play Green Valley.  We were surrounded by dark clouds filled with rain but the weather was kind and when the rain came we were already back in the club house.  One flight was required today but again with six places on the podium.

Co. Dublin’s Pat Regan stood atop the podium with splendid man of the match 41 points plus a near pin.  Pat was two stokes clear of Sunday’s winner Mickey Beresford and Eddy the ‘Eagle’ Beilby; Mickey just managing to edge Eddy in the resulting count-back.  Lloyd Shutterworth took the fourth spot plus a near pin with a sound 37 points.

The calculator was out again, this time to separate Howard Bland and Jorn Finnerup, both knotted with 35 points and when the knot was undone it was Howard who took the fifth podium spot leaving Jorn to close the flight.
