Former MP Poramet Ngampichet and ex-Culture Minister Sonthaya Kunplome handed out awards at the 12th annual competition Dec. 21.  Winners in each category won 7,500 baht for first place, 5,500 baht for second and 3,500 baht for third.

The rules were quite simple: teams accumulated points based on the types of fish they caught.  Prizes were awarded in five categories: stingray, skinned fish, scaled fish, shark/barracuda/sea pike, and a general bracket.

In the shark/barracuda/sea pike category, Samart Ruensuay took first place with a six-kilogram catch while Suthat Chanton for 5.8 kg, and Somyot Jinda who reeled in 5.4 kg took the consolation prizes.

In the stingray category, the winner was Rungroj Sang-gnuen who captured both first and second places with hauls of 9 kg and 8.2 kg respectively, while Teerapong Khunjeng’s 2.5 kg was good enough for third place.

The skinned fish bracket was a group effort.  Team Hull Suzuki came out on top with 9 kg, Team Padungchom placed second with 4.8 kg, and Team Hull Suzuki again took third with a 4.8 kg catch.
