Wat Huay Yai School opens charity-funded preschool

Wat Huay Yai School brightened last week as the Chonburi facility opened new classrooms for preschool students funded in part by Procter & Gamble Foundation and the YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya Center.

YWCA Chairwoman Praichit Jetapai and Ganika Jaras-urai, director of corporate relations for P&G Trading (Thailand) Ltd. were on hand to cut the ribbon for the 800,000 baht Onpim Milinthasute building March 20.

They also donated learning materials, jasmine rice, and sanitary products from P&G Thailand before joining TV personalities to provide lunch for students. Afterward, P&G donated 50,000 baht to the YWCA’s charity fund.

The preschool building, also built with funds and labor from Jesters Care For Kids and Metha Siri Construction includes classrooms, a library and nurses office covering more than 300 sq. meters. It replaces a 15-year-old wooden structure that had a roof, but no walls.

Metha Siri Construction Co., Ltd. donated the design and construction work. There were also many volunteers who helped with the building.
