Banglamung residents pledged to stay off drugs and keep narcotics out of their communities as Pattaya marked International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Day.

District Chief Chakorn Kanjawattana presided over the June 26 ceremony, which also was held to honor HM the King for the 70th anniversary of his ascension to the throne.

Activities included exhibitions on fighting drugs demonstrated by public health workers, raising the awareness of the dangers of drugs to the body and society.

Residents also were encouraged to work together with authorities to watch out in their neighborhoods to prevent drug dealing.

Many residents also offered garlands to a portrait of HM the King, promising to stay away from drugs and prevent their children, siblings and others from using them as a way of honoring and celebrating HM the King’s 70 years on the throne.
