Center Director Padej Piew-gnam and women’s group President Jamien Chaiyanit handed out scholarships of 1,500 baht to the 55 families at the Nongprue municipal building.

Recipient Kasen Polpradap said her family was facing hard times and she scavenges recyclables to earn money. She said she is raising a niece who was abandoned by her parents.

Some days they eat and some days they go without, she said, but she tries her best to raise her niece the best she can. She added that she was fortunate that Nongprue had contacted charity organizations to arrange donations. She now will have enough to purchase school supplies for her niece.

She is now planning to purchase some seeds to plant vegetables for meals and even sell for extra income.
