The Amari Orchid Resort & Tower prepped its employees on how to react to fires and evacuate guests at its annual fire-preparedness drill.

Resident Manager Richard Gamlin oversaw the Sept. 7 training for more than 200 employees conducted by the Pattaya Disaster Prevention & Mitigation Department to educate workers on evacuations from high-rise buildings.

The training program included basic fire knowledge with practical training in the afternoon, which included rappelling from the seventh floor of the Ocean Tower.

Participants also were taught various methods of how to locate fire hydrants, extinguishers, exits, and who to contact in case of a real fire.
