Five squads of students battled it out in friendly games at Pattaya School No. 9’s annual sports day.

Pattaya City Council Chairman Anan Angkanawisai opened the June 27 competition, which featured established sports like football, takraw, volleyball and track & field, as well as playground games like balloon stomping, tug of war and handball.

The day began with a parade of athletes and cheering squads observed by teachers, staff and city officials.

Sports days are organized to comply with Interior Ministry policies to develop the athletic abilities of youths, promote exercise and give kids a diversion from drugs.

The five color-coded teams played for points, with the winners, in order, being Red, Green and Blue.
