It is no less than I would expect. Another phone call from Peter Grey of The Growling Swan that Deefa the Dog had collected sufficient funds to make another donation. I gave him details of the ATCC and he and his members were only too pleased to help. So following a visit to Ja we made the relevant purchases, some in all the brightest colours imaginable, bright enough to bring a smile to anyone’s face. So who is ATCC?

When families come to Pattaya thinking that the roads are paved with gold, they discover to their cost that this is not the case but, sadly, it is the children who are the most vulnerable being prone to abuse and exploitation in all its forms. Fortunately there are a number of people doing their best to help these children and one in particular is Ja, of the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Abuse Centre (ATCC) in Nongprue. Ja has, for the last 18 years, devoted his life to helping children being subjected to abuse both sexually and physically and he now offers 45 children security, safety and a home. In addition he has a Life Skill Centre which helps children to acquire skills that will enable them to re-integrate into society when their education is complete either here in Pattaya or back home in their local region.

The houses they live in were built by the children with some guidance from more experienced hands and Ja educates them further by having them tend the gardens growing vegetables, fruit, taking care of the chickens and fish which puts healthy, organic food on their plates.

Ja mentioned that in the absence of air conditioning they needed industrial fans for each house and with all the activities undertaken by the children, new, stronger shoes would be beneficial as would some shorts. So a visit to the local stores provided the opportunity to buy all that was required but in the brightest colours we could find.

The smiles on the children’s faces were immediate. You only have to visit the centre to realize these children are happy at the ATCC for they have an education, friends and a home. Ja is always happy to welcome visitors and if you would like to make a donation, regardless of how small, please contact Khun Ja on 0819499349.
