PATTAYA, Thailand – Officials from the Sanitation, Hygiene, and Environmental Health Division of the Public Health and Environment Department, Nongprue Municipality, East Pattaya, conducted food sampling and vendor inspections at Suthawat Market as part of the Safe Food and Healthy Market Initiatives. The effort aims to ensure food safety standards are met through proper testing procedures.

Leading the operation was Ms. Sawinee Panya, Head of Public Health Administration, who, along with her team, examined food stalls and collected samples to assess hygiene standards. Authorities emphasized that food is a fundamental necessity, and consuming contaminated or unhygienic food can lead to serious health risks, including foodborne illnesses caused by harmful pathogens and contaminants. Beyond taste, consumers must also consider the nutritional value, quality, and cleanliness of their food to avoid potential health hazards.

The food safety inspection initiative underscores the importance of monitoring food safety at every stage, ensuring that the public has access to clean and nutritious food. Today’s inspections focused on assessing vendor hygiene, sampling food for contaminants, and reinforcing safe food-handling practices among stall owners.

This operation is part of a broader effort to minimize health risks associated with unclean food and water consumption, particularly from street vendors, food courts, and markets. Officials also aim to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of food business operators by educating them on food sanitation, personal hygiene, and relevant health regulations. Compliance with these standards ensures that food vendors can provide safe and hygienic meals to consumers.

During the inspection at Suthawat Market, vendors cooperated positively, demonstrating their commitment to upholding food safety standards. Authorities hope that by continuing such initiatives, the overall hygiene and quality of food services in Nongprue can be elevated to meet national standards, creating a safer dining environment for residents and visitors alike.
